Michael joined the BBC in the radio record library, then moved to BBC Radio sound archives. All the time he enjoyed the many opportunities offered by the BBC Club. By chance he found himself doing some local radio before a job at the little known Maida Vale film unit led to him becoming an assistant film editor. He enjoyed dubbing theatres where he occasionally did some voice overs. Work at British Forces Broadcasting honed his microphone skills and he soon joined World Service at Bush House and worked at Bush House for nearly twenty years as an announcer and news reader.
